May 17th Workshop: “Using the Resources of the Loest Library”

A genealogy workshop is scheduled Saturday, May 17th, at the New Ebenezer Retreat Center (morning) and in the Loest Library (afternoon). A power point presentation, “Pitfalls in German Genealogy,” will be included in the morning program. Guidance will be provided for using the resources of the library to research your family’s lineage, especially in the early period. The workshop will be led by Vince Exley and Barbara Scott. Loest Research Library adds two censuses taken in early Ebenezer, GA

Loest Research Library Georgia Salzburger Society Among the new resources added to the holdings of the Loest Research Library are two censuses taken in early Ebenezer, GA. These enumerations are listings of those present in Ebenezer in 1739 and 1741, and they were made by Pastor Boltzius. The original copies in old German script are in the Francke Foundations, Halle, Germany. Are your ancestors in these lists? Volunteer staff are available in the library to assist researchers and visitors to the library in finding original records of ancestral interest — records with various forms of information in 18th century sources.
